The cafe’s annual Hot Rod Night “End of Summer Riot”, featuring the early roots of Rockabilly, Rhythm & Blues and Rock n Roll with the band “Little Dave & The Sun Sessions” and DJ Bill Guntrip.
This year celebrates the 70th anniversary of the 1954 Sam Phillips “Sun” recording on 5th July 1954 then released 19th July 1954, and subsequently played by DJ Dewey Phillips on his Memphis “Red Hot & Blue” radio show, of “That’s All Right” – Elvis, with Scotty Moore and Bill Black, the world was a changed place, and this was seen with Elvis live on 16th October 1954 at “The Louisiana Hayride”.
2024 is also the 70th anniversary of the NHRA “Drag Safari” in 1954, this lead to the US Nationals for drag racing being established 1955, and the 60th anniversary of both the British Drag Racing Association (BDRA), formed in June 1964, and of the first British Drag Race festival on 19th September 1964.
