Saturday 30th March
11am – 4pm

Ace Cafe London hosts the London Vintage Taxi Association meet from 11am on Saturday 30th March.

With London’s first horseless cabs powered by electricity introduced in 1897 and the first petrol–powered cab introduced in 1903, this year marks the 390th anniversary of when in 1634 a certain Captain Baily put four coaches to work by the Maypole in the Strand, dressed his coachmen in livery and told them what fares to charge. In doing so, he set up what was undoubtedly London’s first cab rank and established a business model that exists worldwide to this day.

Founded in 1978, the London Vintage Taxi Association is the only club in the world dedicated to preserving historic London taxicabs and their commercial vehicle and private hire variants
