Roads of Freedom: Power, Pimping and Pride.

Celebrating the V&A exhibition ‘Cars: Accelerating the Modern World’.

Ace Cafe London has a pair of tickets up for grabs as prizes at the Ace to attend a special ‘Roads of Freedom: Power, Pimping and Pride’ evening at the V&A celebrating the exhibition ‘Cars: Accelerating the Modern World’ on Friday 7th February, 18.00-21.45.

Join artists, broadcasters, and historians to explore alternative accounts of conflict, provocation, safety, independence, self-esteem and designed identities. Discover the Green Book for ‘Negro’ motorists in segregated USA; hear how South Asian migrant women gained their independence in the Black Country; examine Ndebele abstractionism on the BMW Art Car; learn why baths and cars were symbols of defiance in 80s Handsworth; explore Ghanaian burial art processions; indulge in conversations about engines, lights, spoilers, and go faster stripes. Against a motor city soundtrack bring and share your iconic car photographs and stories for the ‘Car Like Mine’ pin up and chat.

Full details of the evening are here.

Spend £5 or more over the counter at the Ace from 6pm on Wednesday 29th January, at the regular last Wednesday of the month “InCarNation” evening, and receive a raffle ticket.
Draw to be held at 10pm.
