Ace Cafe London’s annual Suzuki Sunday on Sunday 7th August, celebrates all that is the two-wheel world of Suzuki.
Established 1909 by Michio Suzuki, this year is the 70th anniversary of the first bike in 1952, the 36 cc, one horsepower, “Power Free”, of which by 1954 Suzuki was producing 6,000 motorcycles per month and his company had officially changed its name to Suzuki Motor Co. Ltd.
The inaugural season of the 50cc GP at the IoM TT in 1962, this year being the “Diamond Anniversary”, was won by Suzuki and, as the bikes got better, bigger, and faster, it was the first of a long line racing wins.
Spanning all models, two and four stroke, air and liquid cooled, VanVan’s to Gixxer’s, and everything in between, factory produced or built in a shed, shop or garage, whether singles, twins, triples, or “multi’s”, as well as all those one-off specials, let’s see them at the Ace!
